About Me
Hi, I'm Alma, a concrete décor artist with a passion for product design and mold making.
It all began when I needed a coaster for my desk. But I didn’t want just any coaster. I wanted one that was stylish yet functional but also served as a décor piece.
After searching and not finding the coaster I wanted, I decided to make it myself. I chose concrete because I loved its minimalist, stylish look.
I decided on a bubble-shaped coaster, so I created a model using marbles and made my first mold. That first attempt wasn’t a success. I then designed a 3D bubble coaster model, 3D-printed it, and went on to create 35 usable molds from the print. It was during this stage that I fell in love with the mold-making process. It’s a skill I’ll never regret learning, and it’s been incredibly rewarding.
Since then, I’ve made and sold over 500+ coasters.
Today, I run a one-person concrete décor business where I teach beginner concrete artists how to make their own silicone molds to develop, launch, and monetize their concrete products.
I write about mold-making strategies to help you make a collection of molds for making your concrete products.
These are my four main topics:
Product Design
Where ideas come to life on paper and in a digital format. This is where you conceptualize a mold-friendly design, focusing on the functional aspects of the final product.
Master Model
The master model is a physical prototype of your product, designed to exact specifications. This serves as the original piece from which your mold will be created.
Mold-Making
This is where you create the mold based on the master model. The mold captures every detail of the master model and is crafted using mold materials.
Product Line
This is the production phase, where you create your concrete products using the molds you made. It’s the stage where you turn your designs into a scalable product line.
